Empty leg guides

What an empty leg is and when it really makes sense

Empty legs are repositioning sectors of a private jet without passengers on board. They can offer interesting value, but must be understood for what they are: conditional opportunities, not scheduled flights.

How an empty leg arises

An operator needs to bring an aircraft back to base or to a new mission. The empty sector can be offered to a client whose needs match that route in that time window.

When it really makes sense

When dates are flexible, origin and destination match or are very close to the repositioning route, and the aircraft is consistent with the number of passengers.

Limits to be aware of

Availability is not guaranteed until confirmation, and timing changes or cancellations are possible if the operator has to reassign the aircraft to a full charter.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Are empty legs always cheaper?

Often yes compared with a dedicated charter, but not always. They must be evaluated case by case.

Can I change the route?

Only within minimal margins set by the operator: the route remains tied to repositioning.

Every proposal is subject to actual availability, weather conditions, operational authorisations, operator policy and final confirmation.
